DAVID BOULTON

David Boulton joined Granada Television in 1964 after working as a journalist with CND and the left-wing weekly paper Tribune.

He initially joined Granada as a press officer in the London office but after a year or so was told that he was ‘no good’ and was sent to work in Manchester on Scene At Six Thirty.

After a couple of years in Locals he became a producer, producing What The Papers Say and All Our Yesterdays.

In 1969 he joined World In Action as a producer, becoming Editor two years later. During that time he worked on a number of important programmes, particularly dealing with Northern Ireland and also Eastern Europe.

He later had a stint as head of Arts, producing Celebration, before returning to World In Action and becoming head of Current Affairs.

He left the company in 1991.
