Andrew Serraillier joined Granada Television in 1978 after spotting an advert in the Guardian for a Promotions Scriptwriter.

Prior to that he had been a Researcher with the Observer in London.

He began working in Promotions in March 1979 and remained in that department for four years, eventually making it to be a Researcher in the Light Entertainment department.

He subsequently worked on a variety of local programmes, including This England and left in 1989 to become a freelance director.
