His career in acting however was short lived and he soon found himself teaching in Portsmouth where he became friendly with Mike Beckham. Mike was by then at Granada and soon persuaded Arthur up north.

It was 1968 and Arthur was employed as a Researcher. From there he went on to become a producer/director, making many a quirky northern documentary.

He remained at Granada producing local programmes, films about brass bands, gardening programmes and even Cinema.

He left in the 1990s.
