Luise Fitzwalter (formerly Nandy) joined Granada Television in 1983 as a researcher and remained with the company for ten years until she was sacked.

During that period she worked on local programmes as a researcher and later as a producer on What The Papers Say and Union World.

She was also editor of regional news at the time of the Hillsborough disaster.
