Jacki Turner joined Granada in 1966, initially as secretary to Barrie Heads, who was Head of Outside Broadcasting and Current Affairs programmes. Within 18months she began her training as a Production Assitant and went on to work on a wide range of programmes, including dramas and documentaries. She particularly enjoyed working on period dramas such as A Family At War in the early 1970s and a second story by John Finch, Sam. One of her most memorable credits was on Staying On, Granada’s forerunner to The Jewel in the Crown. She was part of an all-women crew that filmed a Disappearing World documentary in Ghana in 1982 and joined the ‘Up’ series crew for 28 Up right through to 56 Up. Jacki left Granada in 1991 but has continued to work as a freelance PA.
