The Granada Canteen

CanteenThe Granada canteen has been cited by many people as a centre of social activity. It always seemed to be open. At breakfast time you could usually find film crews tucking into bacon sandwiches before dashing off filming somewhere. And at around 11.00am it was packed by the graphics department ! At lunchtime it was especially busy and you could find yourself standing in the queue or sitting next to some famous actor or personality. It was also open in the evening with someone always on standby for those departments which had to work late into the night. Lord Bernstein and Sir Denis Forman were regular visitors. But most of all it was famed for its sociability and for the wonderful Irma “chips or mash, luv ?’.
