June Buchan  joined Granada’s London office as a programme secretary in 1973, working on State of the Nation.

She remained there for six months before leaving only to return shortly as the London programme secretary on World In Action.

In 1973 she applied for a job as a Production Assistant in Manchester where she was to work not only on World In Action but Coronation Street and numerous local programmes.

Shortly after arriving in Manchester she worked with Bernard Manning, something she describes as a ‘cultural shock.’ She also had a stint working with Tony Wilson on So It Goes – a far more enjoyable experience!
