Brian Park joined Granada TV as a promotion scriptwriter in April 1980, becoming a researcher in 1982.

He worked on a variety of programmes including entertainment and the Emmy award-winning documentary Sword of Islam.

He then worked at Tyne Tees for two years re-joining Granada as a producer in 1990. After producing the drama series September Song and Prime Suspect (1995) he moved to Coronation Street in 1997. Some of his decisions, including the removal of several long-running characters, attracted controversy and earned him the title of ‘the axe man’ but he also introduced more sensational storylines that proved to be ratings successes.

He left Granada for a second time in 1998 to set up Shed Productions.
